Just Under the Surface, Crypt Gallery, London, UK, 2011

This collaborative installation filled the walls, alcoves and crypts of the Crypt Gallery under St Pancras Church, London, UK, 2011. The installation was designed and created by Sensory Sites, an international artists’ collective based in London that included myself, Tereza Stehlikova, Anais Tondeur and Bonnie Kemske.

My contribution was a series of seven sculptures made of rawhide, paper and light, based on the mythic Greek rivers of Hades: the five traditional rivers–Forgetfulness, Hate, Fire, Lamentation and Pain–and two contemporary rivers–Meaninglessness and Disconnection. I created them in the US and during a residency at Dartington Hall Trust, Devon, UK.
